Penguin in Love x

Afternoon lovelies! It's Friday, so it's time for a new sketch over at the Friday Sketch Challenge and this week, it's a fab one from Kelly. I've rotated it to make my card cos the image was the other way round....
Ingredients:
Image - Digistamp Boutique coloured with Spectrum Noirs and Promarkers (I'm a big fan of mixing 'em up lately!)
Papers - Freebies from a magazine (again!)
Sentiment - Computer generated.
Dies/Punches - Spellbinders Fancy Oval and Scalloped Oval Nesties, Memory Box Snowflake, Cuttlebug Vintage Corner dies and various snowflake punches.
Other - Whitewash Coredinations (love this stuff!!) and Shimmer Dots from stash.

Sorry that the picture quality's not that great - I forgot to take a pic before I gave it to my Mum and Dad (from my son) and so I had to take it with my iphone at their house - I'll try and get a better one at some point if I get the chance.
It's actually quite funny if you read the post over at Friday Sketch Challenge cos reading it sounds exactly like me!! We're right on top of Christmas now and as usual, I've been working til the last minute to get all my cards made - I've even had to.....buy a couple this year (shock, horror LOL!!!) I too will be making a new year's resolution to 'be more organised with my crafting' - and you may have noticed that over the last couple of months, my posting has been a bit erratic - I have had a lot going on, which I won't bore you with but another NY resolution is definitely to get back to my blogging best and I'm going to use the relaxing time over the holidays to catch up with you all.
Right, I'd better go, been bleating on for long enough methinks. I'm all excited about tomorrow cos we're going ice skating, which I love (although not been for ages, so keep your fingers crossed for me that I don't break anything!!!??) Back soon....................xx

Noel

Morning! It's the last challenge for 2012 starting today over at Sunday Sketch and Stamp and this time, you can take your pick of any of our previous sketches - and you've got til the 5th January to take part so you've got plenty of time to join in more than once!! I used Sketch # 124 to make my card:

Ingredients:
Image - Freebie from Quick Cards made Easy, coloured using Spectrum Noirs with chalk inks in the background.
Papers - Freebies from QCME.
Flowers - made using Bazzill Basics card punched with Martha Stewart flower punch layered with handcut holly leaves with gold glitter glue in the middle.

There have been some fab freebies with the magazines this year and I've not had the chance to use all of them, so I'll still be using them next year! Well, I'll be off - don't forget to hop over to Sunday Sketch and Stamp and have a nose at my fellow teamies gorgeous creations (we've got a couple of new DT members too!) and make sure you join in! Bye for now..................xxx

DIY Jim

Evening! Hope you're all well? It's my lovely mum's birthday today which means it won't be a blink of the eye til Christmas now! I've probably told you this before but it's funny the way things work out in my family, it's my mum's birthday then two weeks later on 27th, it's my mum and dad's anniversary, then 2 weeks later on the 11th December, it's my birthday (whoop, whoop - all cards gratefully received ;-)) then 2 weeks later, it's Christmas day, then 1 week later, it's my son's birthday! We coulda planned it a bit better, eh!!?
The card I'm sharing tonight is one I've made for my aunt to give to my uncle - it's his birthday at the end of the week!
Ingredients:
Image - DIY Jim from Digistamp Boutique coloured with Spectrum Noirs/Promarkers.
Papers and Sentiments - Papermania 'Wellington'.
Other - Button and Twine from stash, Kraft card from Elzybells. Also used Slice machine to cut the numbers out.

I've followed the sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday and I've used a Digistamp Boutique image, so I'll enter it into their monthly competition and I think that's it!
Right, I'm off to try and sort my TV out - has anyone else got Sky and is having trouble with there not being any TV listings showing on most channels tonight? TTFN lovelies............xx

Such a Cute Little Penguin!

Morning! How's everyone today? I'm off out in a minute to go Christmas shopping with my mum.....what was I saying yesterday LOL!?! But first....there's a new challenge over at the Friday Sketch Challenge and here's my DT card:
Ingredients:
Image - Lili of the Valley watercoloured with Distress Inks.
Papers - Basic Grey 'Jovial'.
Flowers - Wild Orchis Crafts.
Other - Red Card from Bazzill Basics, Oval and Scallopped Oval Nesties and Banner and Corner cut with Slice machine, Gems and Peel Off Greeting from stash.

I've loved this little penguin since it's release but I didn't buy him straight away and then I kept seeing such gorgeous cards around blogland made using him, I couldn't resist it any longer and when LOTV had their latest release, this one fell in my basket too..oops ;-) And these Basic Grey papers are some of my most favourite ever, I've not got many left now.
I'm going to enter my card into Lili's Little Fairies 'All things bright and beautiful' challenge - I hope it fits....a penguin's a creature though after all, isn't it?!?
Right, I'd better go - can't keep my mum waiting! Make sure you join in with the new sketch and I'll be round to do some blog hopping later on. TTFN............xxx

'Peace' Angel

Evening. How's it going in your part of the world? It's bloomin' cold here in London and we are hurtling towards Christmas at a rate of knots (which considering I've got no chrimbo presents yet, might be a slight problem in my household!!) At least I've made a start on my cards, eh?! Talking of which, here's another one:
Ingredients:
Image - Lili of the Valley coloured with Spectrum Noirs and Promarkers with Liquid Pearls and Stickles.
Papers and Star Embellishment - Nitwits 'Heavenly' (freebie with magazine).
Dies - Ornament Border by Memory Box.
Other - Gems from stash and Blue card from Bazzill Basics.

I've followed The Deconstructed Sketch No. 76, so will link my card up over there. And I think that's about it! I'm off to check out the new Princess release over at Saturated Canary and no doubt spend some pennies!! I'll be back in the morning with my Friday Sketch Challenge DT card. Thanks for popping by......xx

A Very Purple Christmas!

Morning! How are you enjoying your weekend? I went to the cinema yesterday with Sam and my dad to see 'Skyfall' - it's a fab film if you like action movies and a bit of Bond obviously!! It's the first Bond film I've seen with Daniel Craig in the title role and I have to say that before I'd seen the film, I couldn't really see his appeal but after watching him in the role, I can certainly see the attraction!!!
Anyhoo!! It's time for a new challenge over at Sunday Sketch and Stamp and this week, it was my turn to design the sketch, so please play along!! Here's my card:

Ingredients:
Image - Magnolia watercoloured with Distress Inks.
Papers - Magnolia.
Ribbon - American Crafts.
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts.
Dies - Ornament Border, Frosty Border and Crystal Snowflake - all Memory Box.
Sentiment - Craftwork Cards.
Other - Gems and Lace from stash, Whitewash Coredinations.

This is another image that I coloured in last year and didn't get around to making into a card, so again - don't look too closely at my colouring!! I'm also going to enter my card into the following challenges:
OK - I think that's about it! Hope ya like it and don't forget to join in over at Sunday Sketch and Stamp - we've got a DT call going on over there too if anyone's interested! Bye for now............xx

Tilda with Peanut - Friday Sketch Challenge reminder!

Hi Everyone. Did you all have a fun Halloween? We really don't celebrate it here like those of you in the US, but it does seem to be growing in popularity. And for those of you whose children have been off school this week, I hope you've been able to keep the kids entertained!! I was very lucky because my mum took Sam down to the coast to see her sister from Saturday to Tuesday, which gave us all a bit of a break - and gave me the chance to get some sorting out of my crafty stash and of course, some crafting done!!
Anyway, back to the reason for my post!! You might have noticed from the post title that today is the day for the reminder post to appear over at the Friday Sketch Challenge, which means you've got another week to join in. It also means I've got some very exciting news to share......I'm on the DT over there! And so, here's my first DT card:
Ingredients:
Image - Magnolia Tilda with Peanut watercoloured with Distress Inks.
Papers - Magnolia 'Turning Leaves' collection.
Sentiment - Whimsy stamps.
Metal Corner - Wild Orchid Crafts painted with Picket Fence Crackle Paint.
Dies - MFT Die-namics 'Upsy Daisy', 'Prima Donna Petals', Whimsy Stamps 'Postage Stamp' die and Memory Box 'Dragonfly'.
Other - Orange card from DCWV, Bazzill Basics Kraft card, Gems from stash and Imaginisce Distressing Tool to distress all the edges of the orange card.

So - what do you think of my Distress Ink watercoloring? I've been practicing - alot! So, I really hope you can see an improvement?!? I love this image of Tilda with her little rat - something you might not know about me is that I used to keep rats. At one point, we had 7 of them - mostly named after Buffy characters LOL!
I'm also going to enter my card into the first challenge over at the Marvellous Magnolia Challenge blog (Anything Goes) and into Midweek Magnolia Challenge #35 - Anything Goes.
Right, I think that's it from me. I really hope you like my card. Thanks for popping by...........hugs xxxx

Ingredients:
Image and Papers - Magnolia watercoloured with distress inks.
Sentiment - Craftwork Cards.
Metal Corner and Pin - Wild Orchid Crafts.
Flower - Duck Pond Crafts.
Other - Lace and Red Cabochon from stash, Red Card - Bazzill Basics.

Don't look too closely at my colouring! This is one of the images that I coloured for last Christmas but then didn't get round to using on a card and when I was going through them the other week, this one was one of the more passable ones but certainly nothing to write home about ;-)

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
And I think that's about it! Off to do some visiting now, in between a bit of telly watching. Thanks for popping by, see you sooooooooooon..........................xxx

One Sketch, Two Ways

Evening peeps! Inspired by my lovely blogging buddy, Nic over at Coops Cluttered Corner, who has recently done a couple of posts where she's used one stamp, three ways, etc. I thought I would have a go and do one sketch, two ways....here's the sketch, from the Paperminutes challenge blog:

And here are my cards:

Ingredients:
Image - Pollycraft coloured with Spectrum Noirs/Promarkers with Stickles and Viva Decor Pearly Pen.
Paper - Kanban 'Male Backgrounds' CD and Coredinations Whitewash and Blue Mirri card.
Sentiment - Craftwork Cards.
Flower - Petaloo.

Ingredients:
Image - Digistamp Boutique coloured with Spectrum Noirs.
Papers - Papermania.
Sentiment - Craftwork Cards.
Other - Snowflake Punches, Red Card and Gems from stash.

And there you go! What d'you think? Which ones your fave? Well, I'm off to watch the end of 'Made in Chelsea'. Does anyone else watch it? Some of them are so posh, it's funny and Spencer (who was also on the Batchelor - not that I watched it!!) is the biggest slimey, weasely greaseball ever!!!!! Do you get the impression I don't like him much?!? Ha, ha. Thanks for popping over to 'see' me. Bye for now..................xx

The Cutest Reindeer Hat!!

Morning! It's time for a new challenge over at Sunday Sketch and Stamp and this week, it's a fab sketch by our lovely, Claire. Here's my card:
Ingredients:
Image - Pollycraft coloured with Spectrum Noirs and Promarkers.
Papers - Freebies from a magazine last year.
Sentiment - Magazine freebie.
Wooden Embellie - Crafts U Love.
Other - Ribbon and Gems from stash.

I'm loving Pollycraft digis at the mo! I bought lots of the bundles when the store closed down earlier on this year and it'll take me ages to work my way through them all but I thought I'd make a start with the Christmas ones! When I first started making this card, I had in mind it being for a little boy but then I think I kinda ruined that idea with the big bow, so now I think I might send it to someone from my little boy.....although he's not quite so little anymore!! This card came together pretty quickly until I got to that little wooden present embellie and then everything I tried colouring it with, didn't work. In the end, I remembered my Sakura gel pens and they did the trick!
I'm also going to enter my card into the following challenges:
And I think that's about it! I'm going to get back to our busy day of doing nothing LOL! My dad and my aunt will probably pop in on their way past but apart from that, we're having a super quiet one today - Sam's been glued to xbox live virtually since he got up this morning so I should get some crafting time in! Hope you've had a good weekend - enjoy the rest of your day and thanks for visiting! Don't forget to join in over at Sunday Sketch and Stamp. TTFN.............xxx

Woolly Hats

Evening - my Christmas card quest continues! Here's another one I've made following the sketch over at The Sweet Stop (You'll have to tilt your head - I've been trying for ages to get it to appear the right way round and I can't - anyone got any ideas? It's driving me nuts!!):
Ingredients:
Image - Freebie from Broken Box Stock coloured with Spectrum Noirs.
Papers and Die Cut Trees/Label - My Mind's Eye 'Colourful Christmas'.
Pink Card - DCWV.
Dies - Oval/Scalloped Oval nesties and Sizzix 'Woolly Hats'.
Sentiment - Elzybells.
Other - Gems from stash.

Sorry for the super short and sweet post tonight but The Walking Dead is just about to start and I must give it my full attention from start to finish ;-) Any other fans out there? Let me know what you thought of the season opener!?! Right, I'll be off then. I'll see you again over the weekend, thanks for popping by..................xx

A Very Good Penguin

Evening! Just like every year, it's suddenly struck me that I really need to pull my finger out on the chrimbo card making! Each year, I say to myself 'I'll start earlier this year' but do I 'eck!! But anyway, here's one that I made to join in with the Inspired by Stamping sketch challenge (IBSIC#30)
I've used one of the new images from Digistamp Boutique - how cute!!?? Coloured with Spectrum Noirs - I coloured the background of the image in a very light green to match the papers cos I thought it would work better, the papers are last year's faves (and still a fave this year!) - Echo Park's Holly Jolly, which I stocked up on in the sale at the beginning of the year. Then I've added some ribbon from my stash and some punched layered snowflakes that seem to become a staple embellie of mine when it comes to christmas cards!! So - what d'you think?
Just gotta say before I go....only 2 more days til the new series of The Walking Dead!!! OMG, I am sooooo excited, I watched the first three series repeats in preparation and now I literally cannot wait! Right, that's it from me for now................xxx

Here's my card:
Ingredients:

Other - Docrafts embossing folder, Vintage Photo distress ink, Eyelets, Crop-a-dile and Twine, Black card and Pirate coin buttons - all from stash. For the glitter part of the recipe, I also used my sakura stardust pen to highlight the writing on the flags but I don't think you can see it very well in the pic!?!

I'm also entering my card into the following challenges:
Phew! I think that's it. Don't forget to hop over to 'There's Magic in the Air' with Paper Cupcakes and join in!!
Before I go, I just wanted to share my 'proud Mum moment' with you - my son, Sam started secondary school today and of course, I couldn't let him leave this morning without the obligatory photo shoot! Here's my handsome boy in his new uniform:
(Sorry, I can't get it to appear the right way up - if anyone can tell me how, I'd love to know!) Just turn your head sideways for now ;-)
Hope you like my card and piccie. Thanks for visiting..............xxx

One of the Pips

Evening! I've not posted for a few days - I've been busy doing all sorts of things. Firstly, thanks if you crossed your fingers for my little Ka - it passed it's MOT!!! I've been to the opticians for an eye test and am waiting to pick up my new specs, can't wait! My little fur baby has finally had a fur cut and looks like a little baldie (no offence baby xx) And last but not least, I was busy packing for my son, Sam over the weekend (and attending meetings) cos he went away on an outward bound trip to treejumpers in Kent on Tuesday with his new school. He's back tomorrow, so I can't wait to hear what he's been up to and if he's made some new friends. Phew! I think that's just about covered it! What have you all been up to? I'll be round to visit you all to find out in a bit. Here's the card I wanted to share with you:

Ingredients:
Image - Sugar Nellie (it's one of the 'Pips' but I can't remember which one - hence the post title!) coloured with Spectrum Noirs.
Papers and Buttons - Papermania Capsule Collection.
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts.
Sentiment - Craftwork Cards.
Raffia Ribbon - Bunny Zoe's.

Right, I think that's it for now! Thanks for visiting me and any comments you might leave. Bye for now............xx

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect....

How is everybody this evening? Thank you so much to all of you who have left such lovely comments about my last few cards, I've been round visiting blogland for the last few hours, so hopefully you'll have a comment back from me.
I'm so happy to be posting this card tonight - for those of you who have been following me for a while, you might remember that I used to be on the Paper Cupcakes DT. The lady who designs all the images, the lovely Nina, was the first person to give me a chance on a DT when I first started blogging and I noticed a couple of weeks ago that she was looking for a GDT for September, well, a couple of e-mails later and here I am!! This week's challenge over at 'There's Magic in the Air' is Things with Wings. Here's my card:

Ingredients:
Image - Paper Cupcakes coloured with Spectrum Noirs.
Papers - Glitz Design 'Cashmere Dame'.
Punch - MS Butterfly punch.
Other - Ribbon and Gems from stash.

A little bit different for me? I usually shy away from black and white papers but fell in love with this paper pad and because the image had quite bold black lines, I thought they might work!?
I'm also entering my card into the following challenges:
Right, I think that'll do! Don't forget to join in with the challenge - I'm sure you can whip a wing on there somewhere ;-) Before I go, I just wanna ask you to please think of my poor little ka tomorrow, going through it's MOT, pppppppppllllllleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeeeee let it pass cos I don't know what I'd do without it!! TTFN...................xxx

Peeking through the fence

Evening/Morning?!? I'm either posting very late or extremely early depending on which way you look at it but I wanted to get this card in before the deadline and so I thought I'd burn the midnight oil and get it done. My mojo has definitely returned and I'm enjoying being back in blogland more than you will ever know! Anyway, here's my card:

Ingredients:
Image - I think it's Elisabeth Bell, I bought it off ebay, watercoloured with DIs and DI markers.
Papers - Prima 'Tea Thyme'.
Flower - Prima.
Lace, Seam Binding and Butterfly - All Wild Orchid Crafts.
Other - Bazzill Basics Kraft card, Pearls from stash and Memory Box 'Honeysuckle Vine' die.

I've been praticing loads watercolouring with Distress Inks and new DI markers - I've finally found the right paper and got some decent brushes - I definitely find it much better not using a waterbrush. It's easier to control how much colour you're laying down. So - what d'you think of all my practice? Has it paid off at all? And how yummy are these new Prima papers!!??
I'm entering my card into the Seems A Little Sketchy sketch #20 - I always like their sketches, so didn't want to miss this one. And I think that's about it - better be off to link it up or it'll defeat the object if I miss the deadline!! I'll be back tomorrow/later with another card............xx

I hope you like my card, please join in with the challenge - it'd be great to make it a success!! Bye for now lovelies........xx

Flowery Fairy

Aloha! How's everything going for you all out there? I'm feeling super proud tonight because my cousin has just got back from the Transplant Games where he won 3 Golds and 2 Silvers in his swimming events. He had a kidney transplant years ago and is such an amazing person. Did you know that people who have had transplants can't take part in the paralympics and so they have had to set up Games of their own!?!
Anyway, on to the reason for my post! There's a new challenge over at Southern Girls and this fortnight, we want to see your projects with 'Flowers'!! Our sponsors are 'DTSArt' and 'Lili of the Valley', so there are some fabby prizes up for grabs! Here's my card:
Ingredients:
Image - DTSArt 'Teacup Fairy' watercoloured with DIs and DI markers.
Papers, Ribbon and Bows - Papermania Capsule Collection.
Kraft - Bazzill Basics.
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts.
Dies/Punches - Cuttlebug Vintage corner die and MS Buttefly punch.
Other - Pearls from stash.

I'm also entering my card into the following challenges:
And I think that's about it! I should have lots of time over the next 4 or 5 days for crafting and blogging and visiting you all cos my car's tax and MOT ran out today but I couldn't get it booked into the mechanics til Tuesday, so I'll have to leave it at my mum and dad's so it's on their drive and I'll be pretty much housebound. Oh well, lots of new stash to play with ;-) Right, I'm off to watch the end of 'Man, Woman, Wild!' Bye for now.....xx

You Give Me Wings....

Evening! Sorry that I'm posting this a wee bit late - when I was typing it up last night, I thought I'd scheduled it but I don't know what I did! I must've been more tired than I thought LOL!! Anyways, there's a new challenge over at Sunday Sketch and Stamp today and this week, it's been designed by Uma. Here's my card:
Ingredients:
Image - Magnolia Tilda coloured with Spectrum Noirs and stickles on the wings!
Papers - Echo Park 'Victoria Garden'
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts.
Sentiment - Kraftin' Kimmie.
Other - Square frame cut using Slice machine, Scalloped Border MFT Die-namics, Marianne Designs Flourish, Pearls from stash.

I'm also entering my card into the following challenges:
After moaning about the holidays in my last post, we've had a great last few days - on Thursday, we had to go and get Sam's new school uniform cos he goes up to Secondary school in September and he's starting at a brand new school that's just opening. He looked so smart and grown up in his blazer - it nearly brought a tear to me eye...sniff, sniff. And then on Friday, I took Sam and a couple of his friends to Smyths toy shop near us because The Miz (a WWE Superstar for those of you like me who aren't fans!), was making a personal appearance and my son is THE biggest wrestling fan!! He couldn't believe he was holding the actual championship belt and meeting a wrestling star, bless him, he was soooo excited. And that's my news! Back down to earth now - it's a bank holiday here in the UK tomorrow, so we'll probably have a family outing somewhere. Hope you've had a good weekend, wherever you are. Bye for now...................xx

Walking the dog...

Evening peeps! It's my turn for the mid-way reminder post for the current challenge over at the Cupcake Craftroom - this month's challenge is 'Lilac and Lime' and the winner gets the gorgeous papers that we all worked with (you really should go and check out my teamie's cards!!) Anyway, here's mine:
Ingredients:
Image - LOTV coloured with Spectrum Noirs.
Papers - Lilac and Lime Spring Collection from Cupcake Cards and Crafts.
Sentiment - Craftwork Cards.
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts.
Dies/Punches - Marianne Design swirls, Tonic Butterfly punch.
Other - Ribbon (doodlebug, I think), Pearls from stash.

I'm entering my card over in Lili's Little Fairies 'Oh So Girly' challenge and that's it from now - might have a nose on Feline Playful in a bit!
How are the summer holidays working out in your household? My son, Sam is getting a bit bored, but - I have offered to have any of his friend's round (and if it was up to me, he could have someone every day!) but he just says 'Nahhhh', so I've told him it's his own fault he's bored then!! He doesn't go back to school until the 11th September, when he starts his new school cos he's going up to secondary - it's a long time to be off really - I'm sure it's worked out to be about 7 weeks this time!!! Although he's only 11, he's definitely turning into a teenager already!!!
Right, I'm off to link up my card and to hop round and visit some of you! Bye for now my lovelies............xx

Let's Hang Out!

Phew - I can't believe how hot it is!!! Such a British thing to always be going on about the weather - we moan when it's too cold and we moan when it's too hot - there's just no pleasing us LOL!!!
Here's a card I made to enter into the 'Seems a Little Sketchy' Challenge #19 -

Ingredients:
Image - Lili of the Valley watercoloured with DIs and DI markers.
Papers - October Afternoon 'Campfire'.
Dies - Marianne Design Tree.
Other - Sentiment (freebie from internet), Buttons from stash.

I've been doing loads of practice watercolouring with Distress Inks and the new DI Markers - not so sure you can tell with this image though. And I must be honest, I went a bit crazy colouring blue all around the image and then felt that it really didn't look right at the bottom (it looked like there was 'sky' under the 'tree leaves'!!!!) but rather than bin it, I've tried to salvage the situation by covering it with some tree die cuts - what do you think? Has it worked??
I love to read your comments - thanks to everyone who is kind enough to leave them for me xx And on that note, I'm off to try and get a wink of sleep in the sauna. TTFN............xx
